Frequently Asked Questions
The Challenge Facing New Canaan Mounted Troop

NCMT touches the lives of hundreds of children each year, but we have reached an impasse in our ability to serve the community because of the physical and structural limitations imposed by our facility. Our students, parents, and staff take great pride in the facility and devote many volunteer hours to maintaining it. However, the 66-year old structure has aged considerably over time and must be replaced. Our new facility will:

  • Allow NCMT to enrich and expand our educational and community outreach programs.

  • Help preserve the semi-rural nature of New Canaan and Fairfield County, as well as improve the appearance of the facility.

  • Provide a safer, more functional environment for our students, staff, and horses.

  • Meet modern barn standards and offer full disabled access.

“New Canaan Mounted Troop is very dear to my heart. I would like to see it continue providing quality education programs well into the future. A new facility would make that vision a reality.”

  • Allow us to continue providing caring homes to horses that need to step down from competitive show careers.

“When students work at New Canaan Mounted Troop, they work with a team of peers. If my daughter doesn’t do her job, her friends have to do it for her. It has a great effect. They have a role to fulfill and are expected to fulfill it.”

New Canaan Mounted Troop’s Future Facility and Naming Rights    Back to Top

When you make a tax-deductible donation to the Building on Tradition Capital Campaign, you will receive a permanent display of your generous contribution. Naming rights for portions of the new facility begin with donations of $2,500. Donors of gifts under $2,500 will be recognized on plaques to be displayed in the Main Hall of the new stable. The table below is an example of the naming rights available. Please note that the naming rights for each category begin at the highest amount of donation in the category.

“What begins as instruction in a sport concludes by providing lessons in leadership and life skills that in turn impact the social development of the children. Thank you for providing a truly enriching experience for our students.”
